Privacy Policy

Last updated:

We believe privacy policies should be readable. This one covers what we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it. Questions? Email hello@crowdlens.co.

1. What we collect

When you use Crowdlens, we access and process the following data:

  • YouTube public video data

Video titles, descriptions, transcripts (auto-generated or manual captions), and top comments from public YouTube videos. This is data already publicly accessible on YouTube.

  • Google account information (authenticated users)

When you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address, and profile picture via OpenID Connect. We do not request access to your YouTube account.

  • Usage data

Basic analytics like pages visited, features used, and error logs — collected to improve the product. We do not build advertising profiles.

2. How we use it

The data we collect is used solely to generate AI-powered audience analysis and content recommendations for you. YouTube comment and transcript data is sent to our AI provider to produce insights — it is not used for any other purpose, is not shared with third parties for advertising, and is not used to train AI models. Account information is used to authenticate you and associate your analysis history with your account.

3. YouTube API Services

Crowdlens uses the YouTube Data API to read publicly available video metadata and comments. This data is already publicly accessible on YouTube and does not require access to your YouTube account. By using Crowdlens, you are agreeing to be bound by the YouTube Terms of Service.

Our use of data obtained via the YouTube API is also subject to Google's Privacy Policy. We do not request any YouTube OAuth permissions and do not access, modify, or delete any content on your YouTube account.

4. Data retention

We cache data to avoid redundant processing and reduce API calls. Here is how long each type of data is retained:

  • Video transcripts

Cached permanently once fetched, so repeat analyses do not require re-fetching.

  • Video comments

Cached for 24 hours. After expiry, fresh comments are fetched on the next analysis request.

  • Analysis results

Cached indefinitely while your account is active. Regeneration requires your explicit action.

  • Account data

Retained while your account is active. You can request full deletion at any time.

5. Third parties

We use a small number of trusted third-party services to operate Crowdlens:

Google OAuth & YouTube API

Used for sign-in and YouTube channel access. Governed by Google's Privacy Policy and YouTube Terms of Service.

AI provider (OpenAI)

Transcripts and comments are processed by an AI model to generate insights. Data sent to the AI provider is subject to their data processing agreement and is not used for model training.

Stripe

Used to process credit purchases. We do not store your payment card details — Stripe handles all payment data under their own PCI-compliant infrastructure.

Infrastructure & hosting

Our infrastructure providers (Supabase, Vercel) process data on our behalf under strict data processing agreements.

6. Your rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal data we hold about you. To request deletion of your account and associated data, email us at hello@crowdlens.co with the subject line "Data Deletion Request." We will process your request within 30 days.

You can also revoke Crowdlens's access to your Google account at any time via Google Account Permissions. If you are in the EU or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

7. Contact

For any privacy-related questions or requests, contact us at hello@crowdlens.co. You can also use our contact page. We aim to respond to all privacy requests within 5 business days.
